Zampa Tech - UNI Tecnology
At Zampa Tech, quality meets innovation. We work closely with our Asian suppliers to develop and rigorously test unique carbon fiber rims for MTB and road/gravel bikes. Our strong partnership with the main factory allows us to personalize our products, ensuring the best results for our customers. Communication and passion drive us to deliver top-notch products designed to enhance your ride.
What is Uni? Our Technology Partner
After two years of dedicated experimentation with lighter carbon fiber materials and intensive research on advanced resins, the Zampa Wheels has achieved an optimal material ratio. Our custom-designed UNI carbon fiber strikes a balance between Toray T800 and T1000, offering enhanced performance.
Zampa Carbon Rims
-
Lateral Stiffness
Lateral stiffness in a rim refers to its resistance to side-to-side movement under force. Stiffer rims feel more responsive during powerful accelerations and improve cornering and bike handling. The UNI carbon fiber rim deforms only 9.07mm under a 50kgf load, a 22% increase in lateral stiffness compared to the non-UNI rim, which deforms 11.65mm.
-
Vertical Stiffness
Vertical stiffness measures how much a rim deforms under force, impacting the rolling coefficient of both rim and tire. The UNI rim supports up to 130kg rider weight and performs well on the road if this limit isn't exceeded. Under a 300kgf load, the UNI Carbon fiber deforms by 8.2mm, a 10% improvement in vertical stiffness compared to the non Uni rim, which deforms by 9.06mm.

Spoke Hole tension
The ideal spoke tension ensures excellent rigidity without excessive vibration. The UNI rim Technology and standard rims both achieve 340kgf, proving that the lighter spoke hole wall design doesn't reduce tension. UNI rims require only 3mm of carbon fiber reinforcement at spoke holes, compared to 3.2mm for traditional rims, allowing them to handle high tensions with less weight. Spoke holes are drilled at precise angles (3.4°-8.2°) to reduce stress on carbon spokes, enhancing their longevity and durability.

Impact Resistance
The Right Balance
Hubs and spokes also play important roles in making a good wheel. We selectively
reinforce spoke holes with 30 layers of 2.5cm wide T800 carbon fiber in order to build a
stronger, more reliable rim, capable of handling high spoke tensions. Other parts of the
rim have fewer layers to reduce weight. This way, our rims can be strong allowing them
to handle handle high spoke tensions, while increasing overall stiffness as compared to
ordinary carbon rims.

Carbon Spokes
The Beneficts
Steel spokes have been the standard for decades, but advancements in carbon fiber are changing the game.
Carbon spokes offer a superior stiffness-to-weight ratio, providing a noticeable increase in lateral stiffness when riding. Our road and gravel series wheels feature carbon spokes weighing only 3 grams each, compared to the lightest steel spokes at 4.3 grams. This weight difference adds up, especially with a full wheelset. Additionally, carbon spokes boast a tensile strength of up to 400kgf, making the wheels more responsive.
Fewer carbon spokes are needed to build a wheel, and they can be designed to be significantly more aerodynamic. These factors provide a clear advantage in racing or when aiming for a personal best. With carbon spokes, you get a combination of light weight, strength, and aerodynamics that steel spokes simply can't match.

Advantages of Carbon Spokes
Our carbon spokes are designed for easy replacement, just like traditional steel spokes. They feature a self-locking mechanism to prevent loosening and are double-threaded for added security. Custom spoke hole angles on our rims reduce stress at the nipple, making our carbon spoke wheelsets lighter, more aerodynamic, and reliable.
